Skilled nursing care is designed for individuals who cannot care for themselves due to physical, emotional, or mental conditions.  People who recover from an injury or illness may need these services to get back their strength and balance to be independent again.  For people who are losing their ability to function independently due to a chronic disease or increasing frailty, these services may be a long-term need.  Skilled nursing provides care with bathing, dressing, eating, grooming, getting in and out of bed, moving about, and incontinence care, all activities of daily living.

With 274 skilled nursing beds, The Lutheran Home is the largest facility of its type in Southeast Missouri.  Our size allows us to provide residents with services that are not available in smaller facilities.

Care is supervised by each residents' physician and is carried out by a team of skilled nurses that includes registered nurses (RN's), licensed practical nurses (LPN's), and certified nurse assistants (CNA's).

The Lutheran Home has a state-of-the-art therapy department and employes its own speech, occupational, and physical therapists.  The Lutheran Home does not rely on third party therapy providers.
